The Police in Ekpan-Ovu, Ethiope Local Government Area of Delta State Friday arrested a 65 years old man for allegedly raping a 12 year old girl (name withheld) in the area.

The  Delta State Police Commissioner, Muhammed Mustafa who confirmed the arrest of the suspect in Asaba on Friday, disclosed that the suspect lured the victim who was on an errand for the father into an uncompleted building where he allegedly carnal knowledge of her
He said that the suspect upon conclusion sex with the victim, offered her N300, 00, and warned her against revealing the secret to her parents.

It was further learnt that the suspect committed the crime and in his attempt to escape was arrested by the police detectives in the area who acted on a tip-off
The Police Boss said that the victim feeling sharp pains in her vagina reported her experiences in the hands of the suspects to her father who then swung into action to report to the police who acted immediately to arrest him.

He said: “the suspect upon interrogation admitted to the crime, saying it was the devil’s work, we shall soon charge him to court when investigations are concluded”. 

Meanwhile, two persons (name withheld) are currently in the police net for allegedly stealing a baby boy in Igbodo community, near Agbor, in Delta Statr

The suspects, according to the Police Image Maker in the state, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka lovers (name withheld), were arrested by the police in Agbor while making arrangement to sell the stolen baby to buyers in Onitsha, Anambra State, adding that they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
It was gathered that the Lover-suspects had earlier been hiding with the baby in the community Igbodo, before making frantic efforts to transfer the baby to Onitsha, adding that sharp neighbours got hints of their discussion, and phoned the police who promptly arrested them
