Sources from the school who spoke to dailyledger.com.ng on condition of anonymity said payment of fees is only one of the unresolved issues causing the ongoing unrest

According to the source, the students were given ample time to comply, however they neglected to do so.

According to the  spokesperson of the university, Patrick Oparah, who spoke to  PREMIUM TIMES, the students were given adequate time to pay the increased fees but because some of them could not meet up they began to make wild allegations against the management.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Iwe, who reportedly escaped being manhandled by the rioting students has gone into hiding, while the school had been shut down

The angry students reportedly attempted to block  the Vice Chancellor’s convoy, chanting “we no go gree”, and have destroyed several school properties.
