The February  edition of 'Thank God It's Friday with Gov Alex  Otti and  Mayor Osinachi Nwaka' took off on a poignant, uplifting mood as one of the beneficiaries, Mr Alexander Godwin from Obugwu Usaka in Ariam/Usaka Clan got assurances from the Ikwuano LG Mayor that his desires for a life partner would be fully supported by the LG administration.


Earlier, Mr  Godwin, a Person Living With Disability, PLWD told a heart rendering story of ending his life of loneliness with a life partner.




To his surprise,  Mayor Nwaka responded with a heartfelt promise to  fully support Godwin's logistical needs when he finally decides to tie the knot with a lady of his choice marry, however with a caveat that the lady must be gainfully engaged as an employee or managing her own business.


In his opening remarks, the Ikwuano Mayor emphasised the importance of prudent and judicious management of the fund granted them. It was not for consumption, he stressed, but and infusion of capital to boost their businesses. He reminded them that the whole idea was  to boost the businesses of PLWDs who are already active in one  economic activity or the other and cautioned of a thorough follow-up exercise to ensure prudent use of fund..


The February beneficiaries, Mr. Godwin and Chioma Onyekwere from Iyalu Ibere, expressed their appreciation to the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and Mayor Osinachi Nwaka, or Chairman of Ikwuano LGA for their vision and empathy in facilitating the programme. 


The beneficiaries who spoke after receiving the promised N250,000 grant from the Ikwuano Mayor appreciated the significance of the initiative, lauding it as a historic milestone for Ikwuano. They applauded the importance of inclusivity, noting that PLWDs are now being provided opportunities for leadership roles, through sustainable initiatives.


Nwaka concluded the event by reaffirming his commitment to continue supporting the beneficiaries as the  need arises with the ultimate goal of , ensuring their success and flourishing in their business or vocation.


The TGIF programme is a special outreach programme of Hon Nwaka in conjunction with the Abia State governor, Dr Alex Otti to interact with two economically active  PLWDs every last Friday of the month with a view to empowering them or boosting their businesses 

The event was witnessed by the Deputy Mayor, Hon Charles Ugboajah, the member representing Ikwuano State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Boniface Isienyi and other officials of the LG
