The Transition Chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Mayor Ikwuano, Hon Osinachi Nwaka has announced the launch of Emergency Response Team to tackle all-purpose emergency response issues on a 24-hour basis in the LG.


The Emergency Response Team which comprises men and officers of the Police, Director of State Security, DSS, National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and Ministry of Homeland Security will respond to emergency alerts on Accident emergency; Health and Security related emergencies according to Hon Nwaka, in his remarks during a Thanksgiving Service held at the LG headquarters on Saturday 





He explained that the Team which would immediately take off with a Sienna vehicle and three motorcycles donated by the LG administration could be accessed directly or through the traditional rulers of respective autonomous communities, thought the Divisional Police Officer, DPO  Ikwuano or or through the office of the LG chairman.


The Ikwuano Mayor explained that security remains the top priority of the Alex Otti administration and the sensitive nature of Ikwuano being a border LG, is  equally the route of a very busy Federal highway and hosts to a vibrant youths population at the two Universities in the LG, all factors necessitating the need for joint security patrol team, which could also play the role  of an emergency rescue mission in the whole Ikwuano especially at night for any emergency especially health hazard or accident rescue 


In a related development, an Ikwuano in Diaspora, Dr Ifeanyichukwu Uke has applauded the Ikwuano Mayor for formation of the Emergency Response Team, in a message to the chairman, Uke states: "Your dedication to fostering a spirit of gratitude and community within Ikwuano is truly commendable. I appreciate your steadfast leadership, particularly in the vital area of security will undoubtedly contribute to the well-being and safety of Ala Ikwuano. With this, hopefully, there will be no more incidents of senseless jungle victimization and deaths. Jide nke iji tete!

The Thanksgiving Service attracted who is who in Ikwuano including traditional rulers, President-General of Ikwuano Development Union - Federated. IDU-F, Dr Uzondu; the Constitutional Lawyer and human rights activist, Dr Monday Ubani and hosts of others
