...Bon Unachukwu, Hon Iheanatu, Prof Jude Njoku on the list for possible replacement

The leaders and stakeholders of Imo State chapter of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the three Senatorial zones, have commenced the process of replacing Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the party.

Sources within the PDP confided to newsmen yesterday, confirms that issues with regards to the replacement of the National Secretary  has been put in place, the process has received the required nod by the party Caucasus, especially Owerri zone where the governorship candidate comes from.

In a recent letter forwarded to the National Chairman of the PDP by Imo PDP Stakeholders, under the leadership of Chief Eric Oforinwa,  it was gathered that the, National Working Committee (NWC) National Executive Council (NEC) the BOT has been under pressure to approve the request for a possible replacement of the National Secretary in the interest of, unity peace and fairness.

Information filtering from a recent  meeting in Owerri, have it that the caucus is yet to settle and decided for a name. Some party leaders are pushing and optimistic that a right person with pedigree, credibility and intellectual capacity should replace Samdaddy, stressing that the consensus opinion of members is that Samdaddy should  resign honourably since he is contesting as governorship candidate of the party and has demanded for full support of the party to win the coming election.

We gathered that party stalwarts are considering using big names, the likes of Hon Bon Unachukwu, Hon Mike Iheanatu, Prof Jude Njoku to take up the job and act as National Secretary pending the convention and to give Samdaddy time to concentrate on his campaign of governing the state .

When the various leadership caucuses will meet again in the  coming week, decision would be taken on the matter. But, for now, it is general opinion of members that Samdaddy should go in the interest of the party to concentrate on his campaign to be able to dislodge the APC and return PDP to Douglas House.

It was equally revealed that the main issue gathered from an insider account suggest that the leaders are opting to replace Samdaddy to unify and strengthen the PDP and move the party forward.

Many are of the opinion that the position poses its own problem as being the party National Secretary and governorship candidate at the same time is projecting the  candidate in a bad light as a seeming greedy person without consideration and feelings for others.

It is generally believed that for Samdaddy to get the support of the party he must be made to accept resignation as National Secretary of the party. It is after that, stakeholders can now support his aspiration as governorship candidate of PDP to win in the November 11, 2023 governorship election of Imo State.

"If Samdaddy doesn't resign honourably, there will be a massive push legally to remove him out of office just like Ayu and he will not get our support again. We are only following due process of doing things right" "Samdaddy know he cannot hold the two thing and expect people to clap for him. He can't be the governorship candidate and the secretary at the same time. He should choose one.  "We have waited patiently for too long and cannot be begging him to do the needful. This is the time to put things right in the party no going back". "One out of the numerous qualified candidates will step into SamDaddy's position until a convention is held to properly constitute another national working committee when the time comes" they said.
