Honour to deserving Abia sons and daughters who have excelled in their  fields of endeavour formed the highlights of the 2022 Annual General Meeting, AGM of the Abia Online Media Publishers Association of Nigeria, OMPAN 


Among those honoured at  event include former governor and Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial district, Senator Theodore Orji who was given  awards for 'Lifetime Achievement'


Abia state deputy governor,  Hon.  Ude Oko-Chukwu was equally awarded 'The Best Abia Deputy governor'


The wife of Abia state governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu was not left out as she was honoured with the 'Humanitarian Service' award.


Chairman of Abia Warriors FC, Pastor Emeka Inyama was recognised as the 'Sports Administrator' of the decade, while former  Umunneochi LGA boss, Chief Ifeanyi Madu was presented with 'Best LG Chairman'.


Businessman/Philanthropist, Prince Emeka Ihedioha was  recognised with an award for Philanthropy, and Elder Uchenna Erondu jnr was given an award for 'Best Public Servant 2022'. 


The AGM which took place at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia also featured a lecture delivered by Chief Chibuike Onyendilefu on “Online Media/Blogging in the 21st century: Matters Arising.”


In his paper, Onyedilefu submitted that “online media/blogging has greatly increased citizens participation in socio- political matters thereby giving the ordinary man a voice never would have had under the traditional media.”


Earlier, in his opening remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu commended Abia OMPAN for discharging its duties creditably and applauded the leadership for organising and hosting the AGM.
