The youths activist and facilitator of A Better Abia For Us,  ABAFU and For Us By Us, FUBU, Comrade Chika Ishionwu on Friday  declared the groups' support for the Labour Party governorship candidate Dr Alex Otti, and the APC Senatorial candidate for Abia Central Senatorial district, Rep Sam Onuigbo.

"Rising from  meetings of ABAFU and FUBU, with full representation from the 57 villages of Ikwuano LGA,  we resolved to endorse and mobilise support for the Labour Party governorship candidate, Dr Alex Otti and the APC Senatorial candidate for Abia Central Senatorial district, Rep Sam Onuigbo", the press statement signed by Ishionwu as Facilitator stated

ABAFU and FUBU are non-partisan political associations, and uses the hashtags #ABAFU and #FUBU on the social media to communicate their political leaning.

Ishionwu explained that ABAFU and FUBU resolved to endorse and mobilise support for Otti and Onuigbo having identified them as possessing the requisite capacity and pragmatic leadership style that would make a difference should they be elected to office.

Dailyledger.com.ng reports that Ishionwu, aka Omenanwata who is also a social media influencer took to the social media several weeks ago with a post which subsequently went viral as he announced  his resignation from the PDP and parting of ways with the Abia Speaker,  Rt Hon  Chinedu Orji, whom he accused of not fulfilling the promise made to him, Ishionwu and his community

Ishionwu had in the post, stated that  "... he cannot guarantee  100%  support for all PDP candidates in the upcoming elections and consider the moral burden of supporting candidates that failed on their promises made to me when I joined the party one too huge to bear.

"I have for the above reasons decided to withdraw my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. A party I joined in 2011 as a bright-eyed 24 year old with hopes for a better Nigeria", he had stated

He however pledged to continue using the #FUBU and #ABAFU teams to support ‘credible candidates’ across board after all development of  Ikwuano/Umuahia has always and would always be my motive and  I would gladly make myself available if at any point my people ask me to.

"Like I have always insisted the power of the people is much greater than the people in power", he affirmed

Ishionwu's post earned him applause and prayers from fellow youths who lauded him for his courage in charting a new direction towards electing  capable and pro-people leadership.

Another youth activist, Sunday Kasarachi who shares similar sentiments with Ishionwu  in a post supporting him stated thus:

" My good friend and brother I want to publicly appreciate your boldness and courage to dump PDP and standing strong on your decision to support credible candidates. Don't worry about their threats,  together we shall overcome.

"Finally,  I want to encourage Ikwuano people more especially Oboro clan not to be afraid, but to stand tall and reject all candidates that have contributed to bad leadership and governance in Abia State more especially those that have contributed to socio-economic underdevelopment of Ikwuano LGA"
