Bola Tinubu




Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju high Tinubu has emerged the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s election by polling  1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants.

While former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi came second with 316 votes.

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo came a distant third with.  235 votes

Senate President Ahmad Lawan scored 152 votes to place fourth.

Among the aspirants who announced their withdrawal from the race as voting was about to commence include  Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum; and former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Others who stepped down were Jigawa State Governor Badaru Abubakar; Senator Robert Boroffice; former Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godwill Akpabio; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole; and Mrs Uju Ken-Ohanenye (all for Tinubu); as well as the youngest aspirant, Mr Nicholas Felix who pulled out in favour of Osinbajo.

Former Senate President Ken Nnamani also stepped down from the race

The results of other aspirants who got to the finish line are:

Governor Dave Umahi – 38 votes

Governor Ben Ayade – 37 votes

Senéator Ahmad Rufai Sani – 4 votes

Chukwuemeka Uwaezuoke Nwajiuba – 1 vote

Former Governor, Dr. Christopher Onu – 1 vote

Senator Rochas Okorocha – 0 vote

Pastor Tunde Bakare – 0 vote

Tein Jack-Rich – 0 vote

Ikeobasi Mokelu – 0 vote
