Ahead 2023 governorship election, consultations and negotiations seems  intensified for change of batons in Abia leadership positions. And this might not be unconnected with the recent flying visit of the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum  Orji to his father,  Senator T.A Orji (Ochendo), Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District; and    Senate Chief Whip, Sen Orji Uzor Kalu of the APC who represents  Abia North Senatorial District.

The Abia number one lawmaker also called on former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Nnenna Ukeje who represented Bende Federal Constituency.

Though sources from the Office of the Speaker was not forthcoming with details on the visits and issues discussed. DailyLedger com.ng gathered it might not be unconnected with the tussle for power in Abia polity where debate on which zone of the state - between Old Aba division and Old Bende division - should produce the next governor of the state has heated up the polity, and pressure mounted on Gov Okezie Ikpeazu to support his Ukwa-Ngwa brothers

The Media Office of the Speaker however described the visits as in keeping  with the vision of the Speaker to continue to build bridges with stakeholders across political lines for the peace, progress and prosperity of Abia State.

The Speaker was accompanied  in the visits by a former Commissioner in Abia State, Dr Cosmos Ndukwe, a PDP chieftain, Dr Chima Anyaso among others.
