Youths from across the Seventeen (17) LGAs of Abia State Tuesday urged the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji  to enter the race for Abia State governorship election come 2023.

The youths who promised to foot the bill for his Expression of Interest and nomination forms declared that they have identified him as "a unique youth that loves and is very passionate about upliftment of his fellow youths, a selfless leader per excellence"

The Patron of the youths parading  as Abia Youths for Ikuku, Engr Kingsley Chibiko Young, who spoke on their behalf, declared  that Abia youths would no more sit on the fence but  are poised to participate actively in the governance of the State in the emerging political dispensation.

According to him, the youths  have found a leader in whom they are well pleased  in the person of Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly

Engr  Young maintained that Abia youths are tired of being onlookers, tired of being used and dumped and that is why they have decided to take the bull by the horn to form a coalition comprising youths in all the 17 LGAs of Abia State, stressing that their vision is to get the youths into power, get the youths into the Governorship of Abia State.

Speaking on a similar vein, the Convener, Abia  Youths for Ikuku, Hon Kenneth Ezeigbo proffered that though their principal, Rt Hon Orji has not told them his intentions regarding 2023, they know he is going to the next level.

Hon Ezeigbo, the Chief of Staff to the Speaker maintained  that PDP has not zoned any position to any  Senatorial District but  their prayers are that their principal assume a higher position

Engr Young and Hon Ezeigbo were speaking during the inauguration of the  Seventeen Local Government Areas, LGAs Coordinators of Abia Youths for Ikuku which held at Abia Hotels, Umuahia

While administering the  oath of office and oath of allegiance on the coordinators shortly after their inauguration, Hon Ezeigbo charged them to make the political structure strong , viable and to support the political aspirations of their principal.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, Onyemachi Ndidi Fredericks called on Hon Orji, 'Ikuku oma Abia' to come and salvage the state stressing that though he has not declared his intention to become the next CEO of Abia State,  they are urging him to come and salvage the state just as he is doing in the 7th Assembly.

He further explained that his youth- oriented programmes, philanthropy, Direct Touch initiatives, his zeal to making Abia a better place for all has marked him out as the best leader of the legislature in the present dispensation.

Meanwhile, the 17 LGA coordinators  all pledged to work for the upliftment of the political structure to achieve its set objectives
