Gov Samuel Ortom


As Nigeria battles growing security challenges, Benue state Governor Samuel Ortom  will  Thursday,  April 15,  2021 deliver a lecture titled “Insecurity in Nigeria: Restoring Peace, Unity and Progress"  to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ,  FCT Correspondents' Chapel.

Dailyledger.com.ng reports that a statement jointly signed by the Chapel Chairman and Secretary,  Comrade Philip Nyam and  Comrade Jide Oyekunle respectively explained that the lecture is part of events lined up for the Chapel's Press Week with the theme  “Insecurity in Nigeria: Restoring Peace, Unity and Progress.

 "The topic for the lecture was chosen with the aim of proffering workable solutions to the growing security challenges confronting the country and this forms part of the Chapel’s contribution to national discourse", the statement proffered

"Considering the significant and remarkable role of media in the society, we will continue to lend our voice on issues that affect Nigerians and threaten our national unity",  it added

The event which holds at  NUJ Press Centre, FCT Council Secretariat, Ekukinam Street Utako, near ABC Transport Ltd will be chaired by  Senator Ali Ndume, former Senate Leader and Chairman, Senate Committee on Army while activist-lawyer, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo and Executive Director, CISLAC/Head of Transparency International (Nigeria), Auwal Ibrahim Musa Rafsanjani would feature as  discussants.

Part of activities lined up for the Press Week, includes a 'Health Talk and Free Medical Check Up' by a team of experts from EHA Clinics on Wednesday, April 14th and  a friendly football match between the NUJ, FCT Correspondents Chapel Team and  Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Team at the Old Parade Ground on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
