* Ikpeazu 
The rumours began after the tough battle the Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP had in retaining Abia State Governorship and has refused to go away.

 Rather than go away, it is getting stronger that  Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu 
may unceremoniously dump the PDP the platform on which he was elected for 
the All Progressive Congress, APC.

 Theledgerng.com gathered that issues fueling the rumours includes the fact that
Gov. Ikpeazu is yet to wean himself from the apron-strings of his godfather, 
former governor, now Senator T A Orji and his domineering son, Chinedu who is now
the Majority Leader in the State House of Assembly.

 Ikpeazu after his protracted court battle is not yet sitting easy
 as the PDP only has a slight majority margin in the Assembly, 
with the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA whose governorship
candidate gave him a tough battle formingthe minority opposition.

 Early this year there was an aborted move to impeach the Speaker of the Assembly
allegedly masterminded by anti-Ikpeazu interests 

 Sources from the Governmente House maintains that the former governor and his son
still has firm grip of the State PDP structure

 The odds against him notwithstanding,  Ikpeazu is said to have come under intense 
pressure from his Ngwa kinsman  to assert himself and severe relationship
from his godfathers, the  Orjis. 

 Watchers of Abia politics suggest that Ikpeazu may be playing it slow and safe,
and may be considering other options of safe-guarding his stay in office. And they
point to his hot romance with his  Imo State counterpart, Governor Rochas Okorocha  
of the APC.

 IT will be recalled that Governor Rochas never saw eye-to-eye with Senator Orji,  Ikpeazu's 
predecessor.  But the reverse is the case as Okorocha and Ikpeazu are the hottest
items in town, and exchanges visits as much as duties would allow them.

 Okorocha on his part nurses hopes that before 2019 General Elections, all the South-East states 
would have embraced the APC to add pep to his presidential ambition.

 It would also be recalled that recently the Abia first lady, Nkechi Ikpeazu
recently visited the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Hajiya Aisha
 Buhari where she made large  donations to the on-going rehabilitations of the IDPs.

 In what appears like a reciprocal gesture, Mrs Buhari would soon visit Abia to 
commission some projects.

  Government House sources when contacted for their reaction waved aside
the speculations maintaining that the governor is not considering any such move.
