A new  Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Yerima Iyimiya Fyarah  has resumed duties as the officer in charge of Zone 9 Police Command, Umuahia, Abia State

The Zone 9 commmand has nine State commands comprising States in the South-East and South-South under it.

Speaking with journalists after his resumption in Umuahia, Abia State
of Nigeria, Fyarah emphasised the importance of information  in proactive
security management. “We want the command under our watch safe, and it
can only be so if members of the public can protect their information and relate it to the police for effective service, not only to the officer you know, but to any senior police officer, it will help us combat crime”.

Fyarah further sought for amicable police-media cooperation
to enhance the security measures in the zone.

He urged journalists in the zone to play down on sensational reporting
especially on security issues as it could have adverse effects.

The police boss also appreciated the good relationship
between the police Zone 9 police command has all it takes to fight any
crime. He however  frowned at some alleged illegal activities of the police
like illegal detention.
